ANONYMOUSMONK'S BIOGRAPHY
Anonymous Monk was first formed in March of 2007 by friends James, Ryan, and Curtis. We soon recruited vocalist Edward Kennington and played our first show during the summer. We faced a major setback, however, when Ed moved to Montreal to pursue acting. This lead to a period of strife within the band, and we struggled to find a sound. This included the hiring and subsequent dismissal of a second guitarist and a sax player. Eventually we decided to go back to our basics: playing the kind of punk and funk infused hard rock that we all love. In 2008 we brought in Matthew Manifould to round out the group, and have been trudging along consistently ever since.

The name of the band went through several changes. We initially were going to call the band Hip-Hop Anonymous, with the joke being that people who listen to too much hip-hop would come to us to work it out of their system. We rejected this, however, and thought of other band names that we liked. One such name, Thelonious Monster, stuck out in particular. This reminded us of Thelonious Monk, which when combined with our initial idea, lead to the creation of "Anonymous Monk".
