Self-exultation versus the lure of love. The perfection of a moment and its inevitable oblivion. Hope for the common good paralyzed by the susceptibility of the flesh. Everything you once believed in.
Influenced by the humble and savage Bavarian village disco scene. Also influenced by Roger Waters, Leonard Cohen, & Blind Melon.
Formative musical experiences: dating a hare krishna; navigating the Bavarian village disco scene as a Canadian exchange student turned lead singer in a German cover band; endless hours making home demos with all the wrong equipment.
Born and raised in Victoria, BC, Bergbusch's first rock ‘n roll hero was Roger Waters of Pink Floyd.
At seventeen Bergbusch went on an exchange to Germany and formed a rock band with German students who became close friends. They did a handful of shows covering Bad Religion, U2, Leonard Cohen, and others.
Returning to BC, Bergbusch went to school believing he would find certainty of action for good. He was disappointed to learn it is a little more complicated than that. Ultimately, all of postmodernism sucked away his lifeforce. Bergbusch's spirit cried out for the absolute. The magic of the imagination embodied in music.
