Between Takes

Between Takes is a Vancouver based alternative rock band. Between Takes started in a friend's basement playing acoustic covers from their favourite songs. During this start up phase, guitar player and lead singer, Mark Pocock, had already been writing original lyrics. Guitarist, Andrew Laing, wrote leads to Marks songs and together, they began composing and developing seriously into an original style. When writing music, Between Takes will always build a song around a strong hook with catchy melodic guitar riffs so that when the chorus comes around for the second time fans already know and are singing along with the lyrics. Between Takes spent a couple of weeks at Vogville studio recording their E.P. with producers John Franco (By a Thread,Strain,Gob) and Cheyne Stephen-dewhurst. They're true professionals in the industry and quickly became mentors and friends. John and Cheyne taught them everything they could about the music industry and making them all around better musicians. Between Takes left the studio with an awesome five song E.P. To fully complete the band, they needed to find a drummer and bass player. They found experienced drummer Amanda Hamilton (The Heck) and a young talented bass player, Sam Buchanan. Between Takes has spent countless hours as a band practising, writing and creating a name for themselves in the music scene. They have played shows all over Vancouver for the past few years quickly gaining recognition. Virgin radio chose Between Takes as a "Best of B.C band" where they received radio play and were asked to do live interviews. They have placed in the top 20 two years running for Vancouver's 99.3 The Fox Seeds contest where they played showcases for industry judges and musicians such as Daniel Wesley. They recently took their show on the road and played The 2011 Canadian Wakeboard Championships. Between Takes is a young hard working band with lots of promise.
