City of Envy was formed in August 2003 by friends Sean Symons and Chris Allison. It was a shared passion for writing and playing seventies influenced guitar rock that lead to the creation of the band. However, it was only this past year that the band truly recognized its full potential. With the addition of bassist/vocalist Sal Pirro (ex-front man Reasons to Burn) things in the City of Envy camp began to quickly heat up. The new energy and raw power that Sal brought to the band created a shift in the bands dynamic and overall sound. What had started off originally as a classic rock project was now charging full speed towards becoming a true classic/hard rock band. Then in March of 2008, Sal invited longtime friend and talented drummer Aubrey Trotter (Catapult) to come out and jam with the band and the rest it seems is history. In late August 2008, the band entered the studio with producer/musician Myk Shaflik (Catapult/Tarnish by Grey) to record their first full length demo cd entitled "Last Call". The outcome of these recordings is just a taste of what this local band has to offer, a thing we kindly refer to as "an original take on classic hard rock", or what one fan termed as "the new old sound". It's essentially a blend of various genres of rock, everything from blues and classic rock right through to grunge and heavy metal. City of Envy is now currently working on brand new material and looking forward to rocking their fans in venues around Vancouver this summer.
