Crimson Roots has attained, and held, the throne as Vancouver's premier psychedelic, groove rock band since their formation in 2007. With their spontaneous and intense live performances, tireless promotion, and outstanding talents, Crimson Roots continue to cause a stir across Western Canada.
Crimson Roots came to be through a chance meeting in a scummy basement. After only one night of euphoric jamming these three knew that they had a monstrous force in their hands. When Dustan Toth (formerly of Gatenby Rode and Versatile and the Wild Child) joined the two remaining members of a southern metal group called Muff, he brought with him a powerful voice, witty and thought provoking lyrics and thunderously hooky bass lines. Matched with Aaron Marsh's mesmerizing drum beats and William Duplain's mind-bending and soaring guitar riffs, a true tribute to beauty in music was created.
Their extremely varied tastes have led Crimson Roots to touch on all of their influences, be it jazz, funk, soul, metal, classic and stoner rock, psychedelic, or blues. With the release of their 2009 "Live Demo" (SOCAN, MAPL), recorded, as the name suggests, live off the floor at the Hive Studios in Burnaby, B.C., the band has grasped the attention of industry professionals and media alike. Now with the release of their first full length album "Callous" Crimson Roots is ready to be heard and to be known.
Throughout the summer/fall of 2009 Crimson Roots continued its rise by playing a plethora of shows and festivals including dates all across B.C. and Alberta. 2010 looks to be another big year for the band with a spring BC/AB tour to promote the new album and a cross canada tour in the works for fall. These boys are working for every drop of sweat they see hit the stage.
