Curtis Robbins

Curtis AKA “Nawlege” was born in Hamilton Ontario on April 1, 1984. Although born in Hamilton, he grew up in Niagara Falls, Ontario most of his life and still resides there. Beginning his career at the age of 15 being the DJ at his high school dances and later playing for the hottest club in the city for over 300 people, he quickly realized the potential success of a music career. After receiving considerable praise from the local hip hop community in Buffalo, NY and online hip hop production communities, Curtis began to approach record companies for production opportunities. In 2005 Curtis received a contract for distribution with an online company to distribute his promotional material as an active DJ and producer. In 2006 he was contacted by EMI Canada one of the five major distributors in the music industry and with this as inspiration has begun producing with vigorous determination. Recently graduating Brock University with a degree in communications, Curtis now is determine to take his career to the next level, now that his formal education is completed. Over his career, he has produced many Hip-hop oriented tracks that were influenced by the sounds of the club. The production style of Curtis is primarily club minded but this is not to say it is limited to only one style. His Inspiration for producing beats is created by visualizing how people would react when first getting onto the dance floor. The source for sampling comes from all genres of music because Curtis believes the correct organization of samples can create the ultimate sound without restriction to only one genre of music for sampling. The focus from becoming a club DJ has shifted to focusing on music production and a media based career. In November 2007 Curtis officially became part of the Supernova Entertainment team as a promotional rep trying to find the best independent bands in his area. He is constantly on the look out for fresh new talent that can be showcased at the Hamilton Supernova Venue, Club Absinthe for up coming events.
