Mike Gomez (guitar) and Mike Kaupas (bass) formed the band Safety Pin with Michael's twin brother John on rythm guitar. They would jam every week or so, but were still learning how to play their instruments...
Mike York couldn't play any instruments so he became the singer a few weeks in. Eventually John faded out of the band, and Burns joined in on rythm guitar. They searched for anybody they knew who could bang things in tune, and stumbled across a friend of a friend who owned a drum set by the name of Chris Mortimer. The 5 of them jammed for nearly a year learning to make music as one under the new name DREAM DISTORTED.
Mortimer was next to fade away and they were forced to search for a drummer again. Burns conveniently was born to make music and could naturally play drums... so he took over for Mortimer.
Dream Distorted practiced hard, making shit recordings on a camcorder aimed at the amps, and played several shows as a 4 piece band. But they were always missing that extra sound.
York had recently met a former guitar lesson teacher named Brad Butler.
"I'm in a band"
"I used to teach guitar lessons"
"you wanna play in a band"
"okay"
With Brad they have played 2 shows, both with Supernova and both at The Dungeon. They are currently recording a CD with Philthy Studios in Pickering, and are playing shows from Toronto to Oshawa.
