Ok bands, I've been running Supernova for 16 years now and I've heard the same thing day in and day out: "how can you help me breakout?"

So we team up with the Canadian arm of the most credible artist management organization in the world, the Music Managers Forum to create Indie Music Pulse, a two day workshop covering topics such as "How do I get paid?" and demo critiques of Indie bands music, and access to panelists who happen to be some of the top music industry people in the country.

There's promoters, publicists, A&R, managers, booking agents, all in an intimate setting just sitting there, waiting to accosted by you bands with info, demo tapes, tales of your passion and virtues, and so on...

And yet, it's not sold out yet. I'm not seeing bands chomping at the bit to be there. It's only $20 for the whole two days, including a cocktail schmooze and TWO live showcases. Where are all you bands?!?

This is your chance to participate in a very low key yet super credible event -- this isn't CMW or NXNE or any of those expensive, intimidating music conferences -- this is one for YOU, the humble and struggling Indie band, the one that NEEDS the help.

And yet, many tickets still available. I... am... very... confused.

Can someone please tell me what is going on? What am I missing? Is the word not getting out? What is it? Please comment!

Didn't know this was happening. T be honest, the site has a very cluttered look and your operation has A LOT of info to dole out. It's a challenge for a web designer to be sure.Anyway, don't give up on this type of thing. We'll keep our eyes peeled a little better!

I just wanted to thank you again for putting together the workshop! I heard about it like 6 days in advance and decided to make the trip on a whim. It was so worth it. It's pretty rare to get an opportunity to pick the brains of people who have been working in the industry for years in such a intimate setting. Definitely let me know if you guys are doing this again in the future, I had a great time!Lucciana

Update: looks like some peeps have taken notice... expecting a pretty good turnout now tomorrow. Looking forward to the whole experience. Some tickets still available, and also at the door. Just to visit the Gibson Lounge alone is a great experience, you should see the wall covered in great Gibson guitars!

Cimmarian, the application process to be one of the 6 bands ended on the 15th of November, we did send an email blast and advertised the application process on the front page, so I'm sorry you missed it, maybe next year -- we had 100 bands apply. You should come check it out anyways, buy tickets in advance off the link of www.supernova.com/musicpulse or come at the door -- it will be a very worthwhile learning (and networking) experience.YourDilemma, thanks for the input, I look forward to seeing you guys there!

I really have no arguement actaully. If you are at all into this site you should have known about this, I know my band did.It really is a great opportunity for bands regardless of any situation (unless you're too damn far)From what I've looked into there will be a lot of great people there (I believe even Ellitott) may I add your avatar does you justice sir ;) Bottom of the line, I'm going to have fun and take what it offers. Amen- Rock on

How do you get into it?

YourDilemma and Rozon, I understand that non-GTA bands may have issues with the distance, but GTA bands shouldn't. Also further to your comment in terms of "ready to talk to these kinds of people" I totally understand, but this is a non-threatening, optional to participate type thing. These guys get it. They get the position you bands are in. They are not on high horses. This is FOR Indie bands, particularly "baby" bands who want to learn and just expose themselves to what is out there. The most common questions I hear are "who can I trust?" and "who can I talk to for information?" and even if you're not ready to ask or put yourself out there, that's cool too, just attend, watch, learn, and most of all listen. It's so cheap and done on the most casual atmosphere possible while still remaining professional, it's really a golden opportunity for bands, on Supernova or not.

I agree with your comments Elliott....but as stated down below me, and I agree with, not as many bands as you think can make it, or more importantly, feel they are ready to talk to to these kinds of people I suppose. That being said, I will, with another member(s) of my band will be attending on saturday (it being hard for any of us to make it even being semi-close)I look forward to everything it has to offer.- Rock on
