Mike and Cecil met at York University in a Jazz Performance class and decided to try and start a band together. Mike was trying to find a drummer and singer to fix up the broken remnants oh his old band INI while Cecil was looking to get out of his current band and find something better. They both started jamming and realized that there styles had nothing in common. Mike came from a funk, reggae background while Cecil came from a Metal and Hardcore background but there common ground was Jazz. Mike brought in his old bass player and they recruited Mike Peters (Shades) who was also a jazz student at York on the drums. All that they needed was a singer... Cecil had a friend whose neighbour held jam sessions at his house on a regular basis so he asked him if he wanted to audition for the band. At the first rehersal it was finalized Skylar wanted to join the band and the band wanted Skylar in. Due to the vast difference in music styles the band grew a unique sound. Everyone in the band understands that music is a beautiful thing and it doesn't matter if you dont like a certain type of music you just have to respect it. There sound is unique. One can even say you can hear a little bit of everything in there. With the strong ska rhythms by Mike and the roaring guitar solo's from Cecil to the grooving bass line from Bozzer and the perfec time feel of Shades; the strong and energetic vocals of Sky punch their sound into your ear and rest be sured you'll never forget it.
Their name comes from Cecil family name from India. Translated into English it means House of Coconuts and its the perfect name for such a unique band.
