MARK MAGYAR “Self-absorbed, hipster douche bag with a jaded past, who makes hitting on your wife seem like he's doing you a favor…"
Mark left Toronto four years ago on a greyhound, with little more than chicken scratches he’d scrawled onto loose-leaf paper and tucked away in his carry-on. A hard-luck story maybe, but who cares… we all got one. Anyways, he claims they, “Paired well, ” with earworm melodies ‘The Universe’ gifted him all those dead cold nights… shaking and alone. Proving to no one that the shriveled ‘lump of coal’ caving in the middle of his chest was, in fact still beating, he made the downgrade from personal trainer/ TV actor/ fitness model/ exotic entertainer/ whore, to… Songwriter/ Vancouverite-junkie, “… But that, was for only half of last year,” he explains. Today, Mark is definitely a work-in-progress, or a piece of work at best. Ten out of 10 listeners (meaning close family, [friends?] and immediate relatives…) agree that Magyar’s saving graces lie strictly in bringing skilful musicians together. Carving tasty grooves, their jagged Hard Rock Alternative edge draws you away from Mark's gritty vocals just long enough for you to appreciate the break. Their aim… to perform tomorrow’s Hot Adult Contemporary Hits by writing them today… Mark is excited to have worked with Legendary UK Artist and Producer Bobbi Style. Style comments on Magyar’s melody craft chuckling, “… He always sounds better after he’s paid me.” Samples of Mark’s pre-production Demo ‘Untamed’, and his flaccid work tapes can be heard here, or on his FB page… Luckily, Mark won the confidence of Jacob McGill (drums) who is an established percussionist, and rehabilitation physiotherapist in Kitsilano. “So, why work with Mark?” We asked Jacob. “I felt sorry for him,” replies the master-beater continuing with, “It’s my charitable contribution for 2010.”
