Biography

Remember when rock music was heavy, raw, simplistic and high-energy? The kind of music that still holds its place even after other genres and trends come and go, only to quickly be forgotten? New Renaissance is an original rock trio dedicated to playing this style of loud and catchy hard-rock music. Originating as a side project from previous bands, they slowly began writing original songs and refining their own sound. Upon first appearing in the music scene in 2009, New Renaissance immediately turned heads with their high energy rock shows, quickly winning them a thousand dollar grand prize in the first "Battle of the Bands" contest they entered. After playing multiple local shows, they decided to take a year off to perfect their songs, completely self-record, produce, mix and master their own album, and work on their live show. Now, New Renaissance is ready to take on the music scene. With the release of their debut full-length album "The Casuist" under their belts (hailed by Winnipegs' Uptown Magazine as "an album full of anthemic, Foo Fighters-esque fist-pumpers"), an additional band member to make their live shows bigger and better, a teaser music video for their song, "Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind", and many high-profile gigs behind them (including a slot in Osborne's Canada Day Streetfest), 2011 proved to be a big year for these young musicians. Now in 2012, New Renaissance has already been named "Band of the Month" by Winnipeg's rock radio station "Power 97" and won first prize in another 'Battle of the Bands" competition, which awarded them with a showcase at the Hard Rock Cafe in Toronto for Canadian Music Week, so be sure keep your eyes out for these up-and-comers in the coming year, as you won't want to miss one of their contagiously energetic, live rock 'n roll shows.
