NoRey is a Vancouver BC based band, made up by Alejandro (singer/guitarist), Mike (percussionist/guitarist/drums), Dave (bass), Vicky (didgeridoo, vocals). With a huge variety of influences, NoRey have gained a cross genre sound that reflects the diversity of the groups influences. Their sound mixes upbeat acoustic funk with psychedelic rock, latin beats and folky acoustic influences. Starting in San Diego CA 7 years ago, Alejandro and Mike began playing local coffee houses and bars around the Pacific Beach area. Meeting up every summer they began to put their vision to record before the will to travel seperated their paths when Alejandro moved to Austin TX whilst Mike and Vicky moved to Australia and travelled for a number of years. However, the band recorded a collection of songs titled 'Crossing Words With Continents' in 2006/2007. The collection was recorded in Perth AU, Austin TX, Riseley UK, San Diego CA, Vancouver BC and Unawatuna Sri Lanka and for the most part was sent back and forth between Australia and the US to record whilst the band lived apart. Now located in Vancouver the band are in the process of recording their album 'One Of These Days'. Recorded by Bubba Jones at Contact Create Studios in Snohomish/Seattle WA the album is due for release in the spring.
