One girl, three boys. Making music that feels good and sounds good. Music that is danceable, fun, quirky, emotional and dark; Painted Cities sounds like all the characters at a fair who grew up and became part of the Carnival; different and twisted but unique and beautiful in their own ways.
Growing up in Port Coquitlam, Matt, Katie, Sol and John have shared the same passion for music since they came together in 2006. Reminiscent of a 90's rock band, their songs are unique in feel and energy while retaining a consistency through memorable song structure. The foursome recorded their demo album "First Coat," in 2007 with local musician and friend Tom Prilesky of The Wind Whistles. With a sound that can be described as classic/quirky, tracks such as "Whale Watching", "Heart" and "Locustsg" are featured on the bands new album, Playground Scandals, which is being recorded with Geraldo Dominelli at Mushroom and Cobweb Studios. The twelve song album is set to be released in 2010.
