Pier 53 is a no-nonsense band that was formed in the summer of 2010 by singer/songwriters Ashley Pietersen and Michael Roxx. Their quest was to form a band in which everyone involved played unselfishly for the music rather than for themselves.
Combined with the efforts of guitarist Ted Eres, the music was worked on and polished. Adding drummer Chris Goodwin shortly after strengthened the over...all sound and gave the songs a much needed edge. Recruiting bassist Nicole Massoratto was the final piece in the puzzle. She was able to breathe life into the songs and add a voice that was complimentary to the overall sound, and also push the band forward.
Pier 53 music is for everyone, and their music is not a current trend or fad, but rather a lifestyle that speaks about truth, life in the real world, and good times. Their music reaches out to the listener and takes them on a musical journey. Infusing hooks, vocal harmonies and strong playing performances, they are able to create a sound unlike no other. The overall maturity and song writing is very evident. From hook laden tracks such as “Lonely”, to rockers yet melodic crunchers such as “Feel you with me”, and the slow yet sultry “Harcourt Park”, the group is able to make a statement. That statement is that they’re the real deal and here to stay for a long time!
Currently, Pier 53 is very busy having engaged in many projects. A major priority is the recording of an eight song CD which will be released in the summer of this year. Rehearsals for many upcoming live shows starting early this year have also commenced. Trade marking the Pier 53 logo will also enable the band to produce T-shirts, guitar pics and other merchandise for the diehard fan!
