Redrick Sultan began in 2002 when three friends, inspired by a school talent show, decided to start a band. After eight years of passionate practice, stylistic exploration, and major line up changes, Redrick Sultan recorded their debut, self-titled, album. Best described as an amalgamation of progressive rock, experimental jazz and psychedelic pop, Redrick Sultan is often compared to Frank Zappa, Mr. Bungle and King Crimson.
After releasing their debut album in April 2010, Redrick Sultan toured Canada in May and Alberta in September. In October, they began recording their sophomore album and in January they played to a feverish sold out crowd at the Railway Club. The band plans to tour North America after the release of their second album, which is due out fall 2011.
Redrick Sultan's live show is an intensely energetic affair. Their music combines catchy melodies with intricate arrangements, avante-noise with beautiful party grooves.
