Friday’s show at the El Mocambo

Supernova would like to thank all the bands and fans that came out to a packed house on Friday May the 12th at the El Macombo.
The Pirates kicked off the show with a killer cover of Motorhead’s Ace of Spades, followed by two hard hitting rocking bands Avenging Alice and Exit E.
In Colour’s funk rock had the crowd bopping especially through the Jimi Hendrix cover.
The three piece band Mittens took the stage with a great experimental indie rock sound.
When Orange Fuzz took to the stage they did just what all great bands do, they rocked the crowd, played really well together and looked like they were having a lot of fun. They took home first place – 16 hours of recording time from Machinehead studio!
Frost felt the heat and called to the crowd to “open the window” which was the title of their first song that evening. Great crowd participation on that song, the fans we’re really digging the female singer.
Not a Clue rocked out and set the stage for our headlines that night which were State of Grace. When they hit the stage they took no prisoners with their hard hitting in your face songs. The fans got a little excited when Dan Medeiros, vocals, started throwing free shirts into the crowd.
State of Grace proved to be a hard act to follow but Broken Silence were hot on their heels and continued to blow the crowd away. These boys may be young but they played a classic rock covers that just made mouths drop.
Continuing the string of great music was The Lakeshore Bandits, a street punk band with great stage presence. They took home second place- 4 hours of recording time from Machinehead studio.
The Blitz rocked out and High Kapitol showed no signs of slowing the night down with their tight Alt/Rock sound.
Rising Revolution closed up the night with some punk classics from Rancid.
Thanks to the El Macombo for their great room and congratulation to the winning bands and all the participants, hope to see you guys out there next time!
Special thanks to Alya Simonik for the pictures!
