Killer Semi Finals Show At The Embassy
Supernova would like to thank all the bands that participated in our Band on the Run Semi Finals show at The Embassy on Sunday May 28th 2006, especially our fantastic headliners Summer Hero. It was a heated battle with all of the bands playing their at best.
The show started off with The Hoolie Snatch, who rocked the crowed with their original funk rock sound; Playing crowed favorites like ‘Creature of the Nightclub’.
Next to hit the stage was Acid Reign. They thrashed through their set pumping up their fans that were lined up against the front of the stage. Beyond All Thought took to the stage next opening with their killer song ‘Flowers in a Funeral’.
Off topic changed the mood from hard rock to punk/ska, playing their first few songs with a trumpet player. French for Saturday continued the flow playing with a wide range of great musicians such as a fiddle player and a bassist who switched it up to play a great song with piano.
In Dying Fashion turned up the heat and brought back the hard edge music that got the crowd pumped. Their set was full of wild songs that really got the head banging.
The hardest metal band of the night and our first place winners Hour of Infliction hit the stage with a juggernaut of sound. Their tight musicianship and outstanding vocals cut through the club like a knife. They are pumped to be playing the Finals in Toronto and plan on bringing a bus load of people from their hometown of Ingersoll.
Starkiller was the next band up after our headliners Summer Hero. Starkiller started of with a great instrumental intro and played a killer cover of ‘wish you were here’ by Pink Floyd.
One Man’s Opinion, who took home second place that night, played a fantastic rock show! The lead singer/guitarist jumped off stage and played the end of their set in the audience.
And the band that closed up this crazy night was Here’s Looking At You Kid. They blew their audience out of the water with their fantastic stage presence and increasing talent in song writing. All in all it was a great Semi Final and congratulations to all the bands for making it an incredible night.
