Supernova would like to thank all the bands that came out for the Band on the Run Semi Finals at Club Absinthe in Hamilton on May 25th 2006. It was a great night of music with an outstanding performance by our headliners Summer Hero. The show kicked off at 6pm with Definition of Collapse. These guys barraged the audience with their tight sound and incredible stage presence. Pat Riot got the audience participation going in their first song with a clap along. Bloodstone played some great original tunes and killer covers from Iron Maiden and Master of Puppets by Metallica. Faith in Chaos played a fantastic set with a great singer and a really tight band, even thought they were without a bass player they still thumped through their set. Derivation was the next band to take the stage, once the wheels were in motion they were unstoppable playing great covers by Slayer and Sepultura. Crimson Tear, who won second place that night, had the crowd in the palm of their hand creating crazy mosh pits and body surfing. They were followed by our first place winners of the night Out Alive. They played a versatile set with power and passion occasionally flinging some free swag into the audience. Flatsam and Jetsam got to open for our Headliners, Summer Hero, and warmed the crowd up with their great mix of original hard rock/ punk music. Northern Steel was the next band up after Summer Hero and kicked into gear with great covers by Pantera and Metallica. Last Chance Taken played a great set with some great original tunes. First Road West rocked out and kept the crowd’s heads bopping. The final band on the bill, Morgue, started their set strong. They had killer riffs and fantastic vocals that sent chills up people spines. It was a great night for hard rock, congratulation to all the bands for making it to the Semi Finals and good luck to the winners who will be playing the finals in Toronto.
