The Night started off with some great rock on roll courtesy of ‘Perth’ and though inclement weather made for a gloomy exterior, fans piled in and took in the event with smiles and eager anticipation.
Following up and getting the crowd moving with an electric ska/punk sound was ‘Shnarp’ a solid band with a flare for stage antics. The guys Left no questions in the mind of the judges as they were crowned top of the show winning first prize.
Not to be outdone was ‘Chainfire’, a previous Supernova winner and a solid contender. They laid into their metal/rock set and did a great job adding a new dynamic to the vibe of the event eventually awarded with second place.
‘Heros for Hire’ took full advantage of the room and were awarded the second runner-up spot when it was all over.
Headliners, ‘Our Mercury’ took to the stage and brought their brand of indie rock and roll to the stage, a testament to their reputation, they pulled out a solid performance and made up for the dreary weather.
The Odeon is Saskatoon’s best live venue with an incredible sound system and a huge stage. Amidst the all the fury of the battle, the vibe was positive and made for another great showcase of Canada’s great independent music scene.
