Making their set just in time, Third crisis made good use of their opening slot at the Supernova Battle of the Bands finals in Mississauga. Through wild percussion and wandering lead vocals the guys made for a great opening act on the side stage and treated the crowd to a high energy set.
Heavy rock bands like Enter Ghost continue to incorporate new sounds to Supernova battles with synth elements as a part of their heavy rock sound; they make for a unique presentation to go along with an energetic stage show.
R.O.A was to follow and the crowd knew exactly what they were in for. The pit was sweaty and intense as the pink hair and heavy rock quartet ruled the venue, a great set and a good time for the R.O.A faithful who ended up as the third runner up in the contest.
Social Code made their statement and belted out tracks from their newest release ‘A year at the Movies’. A band with a buzz around the Canadian music scene, SoCo have continued to earn the praise of fans and reviewers since their album release and in the midst of wrapping up a lengthy tour schedule this summer the guys made good use of the large venue and didn’t disappoint their loyal fans.
With a set of 30 vying for the top honors in the Supernova finals, the competition became a tense match of who could out-perform the next, a beautiful display of competitive spirit, all the bands made the most of every second they had on stage from start to finish.
In the end ‘A-Struct’ walked with third place honors playing to a loyal fan base and pumping out their unique brand of hard rock. Veteran performers ‘Seven Years Lost’ brought out a second place showing with hard rock ballads and haunting melodies throughout the entire set they mesmerized the crowd.
Our Winner, Hour of infliction makes no apologies for their aggressive stage show and give off an attitude that is raw and meticulous to detail, seldom do bands possess such a seamless merger of talent and hard work. The Band is no doubt as much devoted to their success as musicians as they are to each other. The Band have earned top honors as one of the country’s top independent bands and will now look forward to a tour of their own.
