With 6 bands and a headliner on the bill, this show could have turned out to be a let down, but thanks to the fans, that didn’t happen. Due to a great turnout, Maverick’s was buzzing with a decent crowd for most of the night. Things got underway when our new local manager in Ottawa, Grant Gooley, kicked off the night introducing ‘Egoista’ who set a high standard for bands to follow. Young talent ‘Never Perfect’ followed suit filling the second slot; kept things rocking and rolling. Having come all the way from Montreal, ‘The Dangers’ filled the headlining spot much to the delight of the Ottawa crowd. The guys made sure their loyal fans got their moneys worth with a set and stage show true to their reputation. Fourth in line, ‘Dysphoria’ whose fans seemed to fill the entire room played hard melodic music and impressing the judges, taking second place at the nights end. Meaning ‘pure’ in Latin, ‘Meracus’ was definitely on their game playing fifth. A tight and extremely impressive set made them top contenders and eventually taking first place. We also had the opportunity to see the first ever live performance given by the band ‘Ompah’ who put fourth a cool concept that will surely develop into something great. Congratulations to them for breaking the ice and finally making it onto a stage. In the spirit of their namesake, ‘One Last Chapter’ played an acoustic set to take third place, rounding off the night and leaving fans with a lot to talk about.
