Infinite talent

Club Infinity in Buffalo, New York was host to this week’s cross border battle and was a fight from start to finish. Fans were juiced with excitement and ready to get a little rowdy as the opener ‘LSX’ brought out some break-neck punk rock and a tribute to Operation Ivy.
‘Flashlight Phobia’ and ‘Vapor Aevum’ made for a slightly more personal atmosphere as the emo-rock bands both played well to the crowd and impressed their loyal band of friends and family. ‘Vapor Aevum’ eventually took third in the contest with a high energy set and a touch of anger, adding a good dynamic to a genre rooted in sensitivity.
Rock Quartet “Not Enough” brought a more grass roots rock sound to the stage playing some new originals that were both a welcome change of pace and a pleasure to listen to.
Second place winners “The Guns of Camden” brought a new dynamic to hardcore. This Six-piece made use of individual talents and somehow manage to bring it all together as a coherent group. Without losing the timing and coordination required to pull off such an ambitious stage show, the guys did a great job.
A hip-hop flavor was brought into battle as “Storm” spit lyrics with well produced beats and really slick hooks. A special guest appearance brought out lyricist “Boogie”; renowned for his unique flow and stage presence the whole group benefited from the experience and won over a traditionally ‘rock’ oriented crowd.
The air of uncertainty made the next band, “Mortifere” a duck in water as yet another new genre was introduced to the crowd. With a distinctly metal sound, the 5 piece effectively brought together elements from all the previous bands and made it their own. Taking first in the contest, “Mortifere” showed they were at the top of their game, surely ready for the limelight.
The night came to a close with “For what it’s Worth”, a very solid rock band. The guys played their set with a smile and kept fans happy till the very last note. Club Infinity made for a great night of indie rock for both fans and bands, be sure to visit www.supernova.com to vote for your favorite bands, listen to music and read about the newest headlines in the independent music scene.
