July 21st – Band on the Run FINALS Edmonton, AB. The night at the Transalta was started off by "STLYE PLUS GRACE" who delivered big time with their set and a grungy sound that helped kick off the event. Following closely "LATESLIP", a 3 piece band gave the audience a simple yet high energy sonic blast. Although "2nd PLACE" didn't land a ranked position they served up a heavy metal/punk set with experience way beyond their years. Taking true pride in their appearances; the members of “LAST CHANCE HOLLYWOOD" took to the stage with their undead sense of style and rocked it out hard. "RADIOFORHELP" experience on the scene was obvious in their tight well-performed set landing them 4th place. Starting onto the second half of the show we saw "UNBALANCED" who shook the building with their fast-paced metal riffs and throaty shouts. "BLACK NOTICE" was quick to follow up with their old school metal sound and "TOAST" brought an edgy indie sound to the show not heard from anyone else all night. Snagging second place the "VANILLA VILLANS" blew the audience away with their power metal and topless oily bodies, only to be barely outdone by "METHODICAL BREED" who went into an all out screamo frenzy, winning 1st place. "CHEAT2WIN" gave a truly gnarly set of hard rocking tunes and were followed by the driving rhythmic force of "STEREO THEORPY" who landed 3rd. Not to be left out "LIVING ILLUSION" gave the last performance of the night with their laid back fusion of rock and metal. It was the best Edmonton had to offer in this 4 month grueling competition. Methodical Breed will be playing at The Rock n Ride Festival in Kelowna, B.C. on August long weekend. Thanks to all the bands and fans for coming out to support Independent music.
