Supernova Presents...
Toronto had a full two-show weekend! Here's a recap of how it all went down...
Friday, March 23rd at the El Mocambo:
Congratulations to the winners:
1st Place: Grasscandy (Rock)
2nd Place: Niverse (Rock)
Fresh Band Alert: For those of you hungry for new music and fresh talent, featured band of the night
Darker Shade of Red is a band to keep an eye on! This was their fifth show with us since 2003 at Club Rockit. Four years later, they’ve had the opportunity to play at such venues as The Opera House and The Docks!
Something You Didn’t Know: Our production staff was quite impressed with
Tell Tale Lie (ages range 12-15 years) – “All-girl band playing covers like Radiohead and other oldies. Good to see such enthusiasm at such a young age.”
Saturday, March 24th at Reverb and Holy Joe’s:
Congratulations to the winners:
1st Place: The Renegades (Punk/Ska, Funk)
2nd Place: Jugular (Classic Metal)
3rd Place: Infract (Hard Rock)
All three bands will be advancing to the
Toronto Band on the Run Semi-Finals!
Fresh Band Alert: Rockers
The Odysseys were set to impress! If you missed them on Saturday, mark your calendars for
May 5th, 2007, at the Opera House.
Decadence Torn (Metal) I hear has a pretty unique style and good use of keys. Great stage presence completes this package!
Something You Didn’t Know: Guitarist of 2nd Place winner
Jugular has some pretty cool moves up his sleeve: an impromptu (or what appeared to be) walk-up to the bar during his solo, and not for a full bottle of beer – rather, an empty one to use as a slide! You don’t see this very often at a Battle of the Bands™! On another note,
Flaver Savers (punk/ska) had the crowd riled up in Holy Joe’s and chanting for more!
