When it comes down to musical genres, Socially Inept is a metaphorical whore. From the edgy in-your-face punk anthem "Lookout", to the jazzy, clean sounding "Heroes", to the pop sensibilities of "Last to Know", Socially Inept is one band that cannot be pigeon-holed into a single genre. Founding members Troy Stiles and Paul Fernandes have had music coursing through their veins all their lives, so it was only natural when they came together to create a band in 2005. Little did they know that forming a band would not be as simple as it sounded. After an onslaught of lineup changes, some for the better, some for the worse, they finally found the lead guitarist they needed in Kevin Dela Cruz. An up and coming guitarist who was self-taught and a quick learner, Kevin quickly surpassed his band-mates and peers in terms of skill and knowledge. The band, which they named Socially Inept, due to their social skills (or lack thereof), had it's first real gig at a show called Tec Stock at Tec Voc High School in May of 2007. The show went over well but there was one problem. They couldn't find a drummer that seemed to be willing to give their all to the band. The solution to this problem was Jesse Forbes. He joined Socially Inept in the late summer of 2007 and instantly meshed with the guys. The man was a machine on the drums and brought a whole new dimension to the band musically.
Eventually, the band and Jesse Forbes went their seperate ways, due to distance issues. Luckily, it did not take long for the band to find a new drummer, and that drummer was Cody Reagan. Introduced by current manager, Denise Geiskkovitch, Cody instantly meshed with the band. Not only did he prove to be a better fit for the band musically but, also ended up being a great friend and drinking buddy outside of the band.
All was well until the summer of '09. Kevin Dela Cruz was losing interest in the band, and it was quite apparent to the guys. So they seperated and enlisted friend and fellow musician Taylor Mitchell. The guy could shred as well as anybody and dedicated himself to the band whole heartedly.
Currently, Socially Inept is looking to play any and all shows that come their way. Our number one concern right now is sharing our music with as many people as we possibly can, and hopefully picking up some fans on the way.
And as a small note, the recordings featured on this site were recorded with Kevin Dela Cruz, and not they're current guitarist Taylor Mitchell. The boys are scheduled to hit up Platinum Gold Studios June 7 - 9, and will be recording new somgs, and re-mastering old ones.
