About Me

The Pylon Promotions began February 21st, 2007. That's really recent, like a lot of other booking companies out there and such.

The Pylon Promotions is a one-man team. My name is Marcos Gaspar and I do this for the bands. Notice I didn't say my state or region, I just said bands. I try to help a lot of bands out there (in and out of state) with their tours and such because I know how much of a pain it is to book a tour.

I have gone through trial and error enough to understand how to do my job, and do it right. I know how to set up a good show when I rent out a hall. I understand the whole press kit process and understand that half of it is a load of crap. I know how to talk to pretty much everyone, I'm a great guy to get along with. I'm really easy to work with, I don't ask much at all. I give out payouts to local bands that draw exceptionally well and touring bands. I normally try to give touring bands $30+ to cover gas and food.

Now the way I book is really simple. I normally get 1-3 shows a month running (one at The Living Room in my state or/and a hall show). I am pretty open to letting any band play, as long as I get a big band to headline it. I'm really flexible with giving times to bands that they want, though you won't always get what you want. If you ever complain about having to open one of my shows, you can always drop it. I won't make an out of state band open a local show, that's just stupid and wrong.

For booking shows out of states, I want a press kit. Now here's the secret that's not on my other myspace to why I want a press kit. I want a press kit for 2 reasons:

1. So I have your band on my files so I don't have to say, "Who are you again? We did what?". That sounds like we're discussing a bad first date.

2. To see if you are actually serious about getting a show. I want an EPK and a Material press kit, if you can't give it to me then tough. If you can't find the time to write down on a piece of tree a bio, and burn a cd of 2-3 of your songs, you're not worth my time. I have bands who has given me these things. These are the bands I will help. I talk to some bands personally and understand they can't give me material press kits due to them being new or not being able to give it to me at the moment. That's understandable, I'll let it pass. I know if you're pulling my leg or not, last time I check my license, I wasn't born yesterday.

By now, you may think I'm sounding like the biggest jerk in the world. If that is the case, I'm sorry that you can't handle reality. I'm more courteous and reasonable with my payouts/slot times/shows/booking than half these poser booking companies I find sometimes ( Is it too much to ask to get a response of "nay" or “yea” to having an available show/slot in your state, posers?).

Believe me, I'm more nicer/kinder in person than I am in writing. If you need contacts, I have a list of them that I will give to you unconditionally. That's right, just ask and I'll give them to you. I'm not holding out like those "Competitive" "Booking" companies that are floating around myspace. That's another thing, my current website is on Myspace. My email is there as well as additional information (i.e. making a Press kit, future shows, ect.).

If you would like to know more information about The Pylon Promotions, contact me at tpylonp@hotmail.com, pylon_street_team@yahoo.com, or myspace. I hope the best for all you bands out there and hope you guys do your best and make it lively on the scene.
