The Starving Artists are an original band with almost 10 years of writing and performing experience dating back to high school at Barrie Central. Band members include Jesse Muldoon on vocals and guitar, Tim Parker on guitar, Terry Ross on bass, and drummer Matt "Brassy" Brass. The bands sound is strongly influenced by indie rock acts such as the Constantines as well as classic rock and blues, driven by underlying rhythms influenced by the likes of the roots, James brown and a hint of jungle drum&bass. Despite their day jobs (Jesse, coincidentally teaching high school music), they remain committed performers, playing regularly in the Barrie and Toronto areas.
In October of 2007, The Starving Artists competed and won $10 000 in an original music contest through a local radio station B101 Chorus Radio Entertainment, The band then used the proceeds to record their latest EP Blend and have since released it independently in the Simcoe region. While performing at many charitable events such as the Hamilton Music and Film Fest and Simcoe County Rally for Cancer, the four are in the midst of recording a new EP of original material to again be released independently.
The Starving Artists are experienced and passionate performers, who value creativity and music for music's sake. Their shows are always intense and filled with high energy, and they have a strong rapport with audiences and music fans wherever they travel.
