The Party on High Street

If Jimi Hendrix and Jane's Addiction had a psychedelic party Jam House, and they let Beck and Tom Waits live in a trailer in the driveway, and had Blind Melon or The Beastie Boys always crashing on their couches...oh yeah, and James Brown was the landlord!!! Sounds like a Party on High Street! Over the past 3 years, The Party on High Street have been musically exploring rocking blues grooves, jazzy feel-good improvisations and mid-song funk downs to conjure up their own original psychedelic 'Fun'k-rock and refreshing “anything goes” music. Whether acoustic or electric, The Party's songs of peculiar life experiences, travel, and the far-out are morphed to audibly paint a familiar, but refreshing picture for their listeners every time they step on stage. Each member exhibits a unique charisma and inventive style that conveys the importance of enjoying life, expressing themselves creatively, and working together to tickle the world through music. The Party's sound is conceived from the groove provided by bassist Brin and drummer Nick's long history of jamming together in many previous bands. Whether on the 6 string fretless, double bass, or just straight up, Brin plucks the bass with a funkified blues feel and is not afraid to stomp on all his synthesizer, fuzz, wah pedals for that bumping live electro-dance sound. Nick holds down the drums with suave style and finesse, never loosing his cool, piloting the Party through every funk jam and landing in every sweet spot. This dance groovin' rhythm duo sets up the foundation for guitarist T-rav to melodically embellish the Party's tunes or jams. T-rav plays a liquid combination of sharp funk rhythms, warm feel-good leads and tasty psychedelic effects. T-rav, Brin and Nick all write the music and take turns on the mic, singing lead or dropping hip-hop lyrics over any Party jam. The Party is currently rocking the Victoria music scene in support of their second full length album titled "TRHIPPY PHLAIL!". Recorded at Sinclair Studios in Victoria B.C. this album features the unique songwriting talents of Brin, Travis and Nick, as well as their collaborative magic. This album delves into the many vibrant, melodic and rhythmic colors of funk-rock, reggae, jungle grooves and lush psychedelia. It is inspired by the Party's youthful energy and experience, takes you from the warming rays of the sun on your funky lover's tangled dreads as you are blissfully awoken by the cops in the park on a perfect summer day, to the harsh cold reality of isolation that slowly drives one mad, and all the fun in between.
