We are surrounded by many influences in everyday life; media, corporations, government - and for many of us it grabs hold and molds us into something acceptable in the eyes of society. By not restraining and defining your own self-image, you allow everything you stand for to be hidden away beneath lies. You allow the creative element of your existence to sit idle and watch this world sink deeper into the hands of oppression and suffering and bring us closer to an impending destruction without doing your part to impede our demise. You allow your Theory to go Astray.
How the Band Developed
From the small town of Innisfil, Ontario, this 5-piece Alternative-Metal band started in the winter of 2000. Going through some growth changes, the band now consists of Dan Stabb (vocals), Ted Wilson (bass), Jamie Goodyear (guitars) and Alex Greason (drums) who have joined together their musical craft to create audio sex for the ears. These 5 individuals have escaped the clutches of suburbia hell and are ready to change the face of Alternative-Metal forever with their distinctive sound.
The once local band that played for kicks on Friday nights has become a creative and emotional outlet for five like-minded musicians and good friends. With influences ranging from Rage Against the Machine, Lamb of God, Pantera, Pulse Ultra to System of a Down, the band has a wide spectrum of musical stances that combine to create something unique.
Since winning their first Battle of the Bands to becoming a finalist in the Rock 95 Local and Loud competition (2006), the band has been playing local shows and drawing attention around the area which has succeeded in enormous growth in their following.. Although Theory : Astray have developed a strong fan base in Barrie they continue to play shows throughout the Barrie and Orillia area; they have played at the El Mocambo, The Reverb and The Cathedral in Toronto as well as performing in Manhattan, New York.
Theory : Astray is right in their game with an expanding fan base, a brand new EP, fully loaded with new songs and a burning desire to take over the scene.
