With origins as diverse as their talents, Brendan Albert (guitars, vocals), Chris Barrett (bass, vocals) and Dana Pemberton (drums) were each on their individual roads to musical freedom. Little did they know, those paths would converge at the crossroads of Vacant City.
Formed in late 2007, the forces of nature in the west were at work to bring this trio together. Sometimes, things just work. Sometimes, things just work unbelievably well. That was undeniably obvious the first time Brendan, Chris and Dana stepped into the rehearsal room together.
Immediately recognizing their ability to write and play great songs together, Vacant City quickly started performing in their home base of Vancouver BC.
With an uncanny ability for catchy guitar hooks and vocal melodies, Vacant City's sound blends great guitar riffs , steady drums and bass with great songwriting. Add to this an insane improvisational spirit that nearly always surprises their audiences as well as the band itself. They love to play and it shows.
While mostly performing a hard-hitting electric set, the songs themselves give the band the ability to play acoustic versions, this leaves the band in an enviable position to play any size venue or to any crowd.
In 2009, Vacant City decided it was time to hit the studio and began work on their debut full-length CD 'Forgotten Street'. Recorded and engineered by Mike Southworth (Scatterheart) , mixed and co-produced by Doug Naugler (Hybrama, Sweatshop Union, Gaye Delorme, Todd Fancey) and mastered by Craig Waddell (Sarah McLaughlan, Mother Mother, Aaron Pritchett).
**The CD was offically released March 5th 2010**
To promote the recent launch of the debut CD, Vacant City recruited the assistance of acclaimed director Douglas Thomson (Bif Naked, Pacifika, Manakin, Noise Therapy) to shoot the music video for the track 'My Everything'.
*The video was released April 25th 2010*
