When Earth Sleeps

WHEN EARTH SLEEPS is the musical project of Toronto artist Alex MacPherson, blending alternative rock, catchy melodies and unique prolific lyrics. Alex grew up in Burlington, Ontario, Canada where, one winter day he picked up a guitar and embarked on his musical journey. He started writing songs while attending The University Of Western Ontario for something completely unrelated to anything even closely resembling music. He formed his musical project, When Earth Sleeps in 2005, and has been writing music, and playing shows ever since. In the studio Alex plays all of the music himself, and tours with the help of friends. When Earth Sleeps’s debut release, the SKYBOUND EP was made available for a free download fall 2012. The Skybound EP (found at whenearthsleeps.com) contains 4 songs from the upcoming album “Our Future & The Skybound Kids”, which will be available on iTunes May 2012. All of the proceeds from the album sales in the first year will be donated to Sick Kids hospital in Toronto, which Alex states “saved his sister’s life”. Alex is proud of his accomplishments so far with When Earth Sleeps, which includes winning first place for the Supernova Band On The Run contest in 2009. When Earth Sleeps has played world famous venues such as Lees Palace in Toronto, Broken City in Calgary and Call The Office in London Ontario. WES music is being featured on radio stations globally with songs being played as far as Peru and England, as well as airtime on indie stations in Canada and the U.S. Alex is extremely excited to be working on his album with well-known Toronto producer, Scott Komer (Fefe Dobson, Silverstein, Protest The Hero, Boys Night Out). Alex is very excited about the future of When Earth Sleeps as his fan base continues to grow and as the release of his full length album approaches.
