Elliott Hurst Founder, Shareholder and CEO

As CEO of Supernova, Elliott strategizes and oversees Supernova’s direction for both online and offline operations. In 1999, he co-founded the World University Consortium and the Online World Library, an online distance learning co-operative and an aggregator of library resources. Elliott managed educational content and business development information and sales presentations. He also created and managed partnerships with the United Nations, University of Waterloo, and Lloyd’s of London. For three years, Elliott ran the Casino Club of Canada, a charity fundraising company, to help raise funds for several charities such as Epilepsy Canada, Senior Care, Big Brothers of Canada, and Israel Cancer Research Fund. He obtained charity contracts, hired staff, and produced events. Elliott is passionate about the arts. He appreciates film, theatre, and music. Elliott holds an MBA from Schulich School of Business, York University, with a diploma in Arts and Media Management and a BFA in Film and Video from York University.

Sandy Hurst Founder, Shareholder and COO

At Supernova, Sandy’s responsibilities include business operations and development. In 2000, the Canadian Booksellers Association brought Sandy on board to spearhead the re-launch of their corporate website. His in-depth analysis of the firm’s organizational structure led to a management restructuring while his strategic plan, for a value-added website membership system, grew the business by 25%. In 2002, Sandy became the owner of a commercial property in downtown Toronto and transformed the property into a branded building with live event capabilities. Sandy was involved in every detail of the project, from inception to the launch of Club Rockit. After establishing the club as a fully operational and profitable live room, the property was sold at an increased value of 35%. For fours years, Sandy ran several events per year in support of Mazon Canada, the Jewish response to hunger. He continues to help raise funds to battle hunger and poverty and create awareness within the youth community. A passionate hockey fan, Sandy enjoys watching his favorite hockey team, The Toronto Maple Leafs. He holds an MBA from Schulich School of Business, York University and a BA in Psychology, York University.

Sanford Liu Shareholder and VP, Interactive

Sanford brings to Supernova over 10 years of experience in the Interactive industry. As VP of Interactive, Sanford is responsible for planning and executing all of Supernova’s online objectives. Sanford began his career in the Communication and Public Affairs Department at Toronto District School Board. While there, he planned and executed content delivery platforms, participated in the development of the corporate website, and launched over a dozen web initiatives. Sanford diversified his portfolio of experience by joining Henderson Bas, Canada's most acclaimed interactive agency. Sanford’s work on notable accounts such as Nike and Molson earned him accolades from Marketing Magazine, Applied Arts Magazine, ADCC Directions, and the London International Awards. In his downtime, he takes clubs by storm partying it up in downtown Toronto. Sanford holds an Honors Bachelor for Computer Science from the University of Toronto where he specialized in information systems.

Jesse Mitchell General Manager Concerts

Jesse began his career in the music industry at the age of 14 as drum technician for his father’s band, Kim Mitchell. At the age of 18 he had managed two North America tours and one 14 month, worldwide tour which included touring all of Europe. Now at the age of 25 and with a Business Degree from Ryerson University, Jesse is the General Manager of the entire concerts department at Supernova while also acting as President at Mitchell Mgmt Inc. who manages the career of his father and also handles event management for concerts & festivals across North America.
