Q: Does it cost to play Battle of the Bands®? A: Absolutely not. Our Battle of the Bands® shows are free for bands to play. Q: How old do I have to be to play in a Battle of the Bands® show? A: There are no age restrictions for bands. However, Supernova does produce several 19+ shows and these do have a minimum age due to venue restrictions. Q: Does Supernova pay bands to play Battle of the Bands® competitions? A: Supernova does not pay bands that compete in Battle of the Bands® shows; however, we do offer paid opportunities for age of majority bands with a strong following. Q: What sort of prizes do bands play for? A: Prizes differ in each city and vary by program. For more information, contact your local booker or check our current Battles. Q: Where does all the money generated from ticket sales go? A: Money from ticket sales is used to cover the expenses associated with running shows such as venue rental, security, production staff, equipment and gear, promotional materials, prizes, headliners, ticket printing and booking agents.

Q: I just requested to play a show, am I confirmed? A: Not yet. One of our bookers will contact you with confirmation details. Be sure that your contact info is up to date. If we can’t contact you, we can’t book you. Q: Why are bands asked to sell tickets to a Battle of Bands® show? A: Bands are asked to sell tickets in order to secure the best set times. This way, the band that brings out the biggest crowd will get the best set time and each band has an opportunity to gain exposure by sharing an audience. Q: Which cities participate in the Supernova Battle of the Bands®? A: Canada: Toronto, London, Oshawa, Hamilton, Barrie, Guelph, Montreal, Ottawa, Kitchener, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Victoria, Vancouver, Langley. U.S.A.: New York City, Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas, Houston, Seattle, Columbus, Milwaukee, Buffalo, Boston.

Q: Why are punk, metal and rock bands in the same show? A: It’s a way of sharing fans and getting you exposed to fans who might not usually hear your music. Q: Can we sell our merch at the show? A: Absolutely. Bands that choose to sell their merch keep 100% of the sales. Check with Supernova staff at each show beforehand because some venues have their own rules about merch. Q: What backline is provided at each Battle of the Bands® show? A: 4-piece drum kit (1 Floor Tom, 1 Bass Drum, 2 Mounted Toms), 1 Bass Amp, 1 Guitar Amp and all microphones. This backline is standard in most cities we operate in. Please check with Supernova before the show to confirm. Q: What equipment should my band bring with us to the show? A: Drummer . All cymbals . Cymbal stands . Drum pedals . A throne . Drum sticks Guitarist(s) . Your guitar(s) . Patch cords . Pedals . An extra amp (if your band has an extra guitarist) Bassist . Your bass . Patch cords Keyboards/Horns/Turntables/Other . Our venues can accommodate other instruments. Please check with Supernova.

Q: What is Wildcard Voting? A: Wildcard Voting lets fans vote online for a Battle of the Bands® 3rd place winner. Voting opens 1 day after remains open for one week. Q: How do I place my vote for a Wildcard winner? A: To vote, go to the band’s profile page or search for the show and click on Wildcard Voting. Q: How often can I vote for a Wildcard winner? A: Members can vote for a Wildcard winner once a day, every day. Q: I won a show but haven’t received my prize. How do I claim it? A: Make sure your email address is up-to-date. A Supernova representative will contact you within 72 business hours with prizing forms and vouchers. If you haven’t been contacted, please check your spam/junk folder. If you need a prizing form to be resent, please contact us here.
