Supernova's annual outdoor music festival is back and it's bigger than ever!
Playdium Playmusic Festival is a unique show where amateur bands from Supernova's roster are given the opportunity to open for a major Canadian headliner in a effort to give them valuable experience with the headliner, the equipment, and the chance to be seen by industry reps. The group originally formed in the early 1990's under the name Tribal Stomp, and released 2 records, one entitled Blue and a second, self-titled album. This record had 2 singles, Breathe and Stain, with videos for each that received play on Canada's MuchMusic. In 1998, drummer Shayne Wakefield and bassist Dave Alexander left the group and were replaced by John Lord and Chris Ferguson. With this lineup change their sound evolved, causing the band to take a new direction and a new name, Clarknova. In 1995, they released their first recording, a self-titled EP that printed only 500 units. When they signed with indie-label Squirtgun Records in 1996, the band released Flamethrower, which was reissued in early 1999 due to popular demand. Scratching Post's energetic power rock achieved loads of airplay on Canadian college radio and their mix of catchy pop and aggressive metal attracted a loyal following.
