BEHINDSAPPHIRE'S BIOGRAPHY
he tight vancouver-based band "Behind Sapphire," is continuously full of surprises. They have brewed a style of magical moods and melodic-pop style harmonies. Their nostalgic approach to music goes along famously with their upbeat and soulful personalities. The few times I've heard their music, I've been captured by it. I don't know whether I should sing-a-long, dance or just jump for joy!

"Pink Clouds," a country-pop dynamo bursting with energy. This song has one of the most sing-a-long style choruses that I've ever heard. The half-time bridge tells a heartwarming short story of faith and friendship. I love the true meaning of this song.

The song on their myspace, "Waiting By The Satellites," is one of my personal favourites. It's an encompassing piece that should inspire anyone to take the moment or as our teachers say "Carpe Diem!" The chorus for this song is unforgettable. "Todayyy..."

The third and newest addition, I've heard, is tentatively titled "Tree Rings." It's much different from the rest of the bands music. But, you can still tell it's theirs. Singer, Grant Cassell, has such a unique and attractive voice. This song is filled with a mini-choir, underwater drums, and epic-style harmonies. I won't go into to much detail because it is worth the listen and I wouldn't want to spoil the listeners adventure.

"Behind Sapphire" is a combined effort of Matthew Mazankowski (composer/lyricist), Grant Cassell (vocalist/lyricist) and Matthew Tomkinson (composer/lyricist). I have taken the time to get to know this inspired group. Their down-to-earth mix of goofiness combined with their serious approach to music makes them a very special addition to the music of our age.

You may have seen them on Speakers Corner where they preformed a section of "Pink Clouds." They, also, have told me of some adventures and experiences with busking downtown, along with a numerous amount of spontaneous song playing. I suggest you take a listen! This
