BLACKCITYLIGHTS'S BIOGRAPHY
Black City Lights is the sad little product of genre bastardization brought into the world by 3 suburban rapscallions from the geriatric meth lab that is Maple Ridge. Coming into conception from the depths of their cynical, RPG addled brains, The band began writing in the winter of 2005 to the tune of a ska influence minus the horns, Writing mostly humorous anecdotal songs featuring various flibbertigibbet themes. That last part is probably a lie, but i digress. After a banal year of dormancy, makeshift, ugly dirty dreadlock bass players and the overall awesomeness of tristan and matt being generally shaken by the ever presence of ugly dirty dreadlock bassists, BCL found rebirth in the summer of 2007 with a new sound and a relatively clean, dreadless bass player. Also a found definition for the word flibbertigibbet. Settling their sound somewhere inbetween the diminished jazz chords, Funky caveman(and slightly racist) drumbeats, shagadelic basslines and bad teenage poetry commonly heard throughout the little practice loft we call home, Black City Lights has come to fruition, and also realization. Realization of the heavy annoyance of writing band biographies that force you to write out the band name...pretty much til it loses all meaning. Black City Lights is better than you.yes.you.
