Chris Jackson – Bio’
Since he began singing at the age of five, Chris Jackson has been slowly making a place for himself in the music industry. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana yet raised in the “Mile High City” Denver, Colorado, Chris performed in several community youth organizations including “Colorado Up-Lift” and “Street-Smart”, where he developed his stage presence at an early age. While in high school, he and two friends formed an a cappella trio known as the “Ethnic Brothers”. Incorporating the sounds and the style of the 1950’s doo-wop, they performed on busy street corners, city parks, shopping malls and a 50’s themed restaurant called “Watson’s” in which they called home. It was then; Chris decided to make his move to Canada in 1991 in pursuit of a professional career in music. Upon arrival, he joined a Hamilton, Ontario based hip-hop group, “Legal Eye”, where he contributed his smooth vocals to there gritty underground sound.
The group gained their notoriety, shortly there after
By sharing the stage with memorable acts the
“Fu-Schnickens” and “The Leaders of the New School” (then featuring Busta Rhymez). Later, Chris helped in forming a quartet with friends called “Travaux” (translating into French as “works”)
Developing their talent in original music, the group was compared to other great vocal groups of that era such as “Boys II Men”, “Color Me Bad” and “Jodeci”. When the group disbanded in 1994, Chris was left to embarked on a solo career finding much success in opening for such artist as Def Squad recording artist “Alfonzo Hunter” as well as “Laface” recording artist “Usher” and most recently in 2006 “Bad-Boy” platinum recording artists “112”.
Chris has also performed as a feature act during the Canada Day, and First Night New Years celebrations, Kaleidoscope and Festival of Friends.
As of recent, Chris was one of five finalists in the Hamilton B.I.A. 2003 “Talent Hunt” singing contest, as well as the top three contestant for two years in a row, beating hundreds in the “FLOW 93.5 Urban Soul Search 2005 and 2006”. He was first runner up in the Hamilton Bulldogs Super-Star Anthem as well as recorded with friends “The Hamilton Talent Squad” for a Christmas CD entitled “A Christmas in Gore Park”. He has performed in many charity events such as “Avery’s Journey” as well as countless performances for “Vision-N-Vibe Promotions”. Most recently Chris was a featured act for “Hamilton Soul Stories” a tribute to jazz great, “Jackie Washington”. As well as being a refined vocalist, Chris has become a talented composer and producer, which is reflected in his much anticipated 2007 release, entitled "Finally". Chris draws from wide range of influences, including his own father, as is evident that the measure of creativity instilled in each song. Chris’ passion for music is matched only by his talent and desire to continue to develop as an artist and a composer.
