R&B and hip hop singer-songwriter, ESMA is a driven and passionate artist who needs only the bare essentials to fill any stage with her solo performances—a mic and stilettos. Raised with strong Lebanese and Syrian roots, Canadian born ESMA is proud to infuse each culture into her music.
ESMA’s participation in competitions led to performances at night clubs, concerts, fundraisers, and a multitude of other venues, including live radio. She has brought her talent to sporting, political, and cultural events. ESMA’s experience includes music festivals and charity events, as well as opening for critically acclaimed artists such as Danny Fernandes and JRDN. Reaching the finals in all the competitions she entered in 2010 demonstrates undeniable talent and determination.
Writing songs since her early teens, ESMA grew up admiring Michael Jackson, Alicia Keys, The Fugees, TLC, and Aretha Franklin, just to name a few. She realized her musical passion early, with Billie Holiday and Etta James further influencing her singing and writing styles. ESMA has studied drama, as well as trained in numerous genres including blues, jazz, contemporary, classical, and musical theatre.
With the belief in always growing and improving her skills, ESMA trained with the talented Darlene Reese, celebrity stage coach for artists such as Beyonce. She has also danced hip hop at 3rd Street Beat Studios and with the Fly Girlz Dance Crew. ESMA continues to study her craft through ear training and piano lessons.
Currently collaborating with talented artists and producers to release her first CD, ESMA’s unique sound and unforgettable stage presence has gained her local recognition. With her continuing perseverance, ESMA is sure to quickly realize recognition abroad.
