Piss Ticket is a 4 piece rocking and rolling band from Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Piss Ticket hit the Supernova stage most recently in April of 2012 for
Band on the Run. They have done very well in the past at our shows taking home participation prizes and second place as well. I had the chance to go through these questions with Myles so we could get a deeper look at Piss Ticket!
Please introduce us to Piss Ticket:
My name is Myles and I play drums, there's Cole and he plays guitar, Anya plays the bass and Liam is that guy who sings.
How did you get your band name and what brought you guys together as a band?
We got it from sitting about and thinking about a name and it just came. We figured it was offensive and people would think it's cool. We came together for a school talent show and we just kept on going from there.
How long have you been playing together with the current lineup?
We've been together since September of 2010, which seems like a long time ago...hmmm...
If I was to put you on the spot and ask you to define your genre, what would you call it?
I would call it garage punk 90's folk blues-rock.
Do you have any major artistic influences?
The band's music is heavily influenced by The Ramones, The Clash, AC/DC and The White Stripes.
What is the most rewarding thing about being in a band?
For me personally, it's that feeling when someone looks at me and says "wow, you're in a band?!". Maybe it's because I like the attention, but it feels rewarding.
What is the hardest part about being in a band?
The hardest part is getting everything in order when everything's in chaos. That's usually my role in situations, make sure that nothing goes wrong. It seems as though nothing ever goes right when it is supposed to.
How did you come across Supernova.com and what would you tell other bands about Supernova?
Our radio station in town had a commercial advertising the website and it seemed like a cool idea to sign up. I'd tell any band any day to sign up right away and start playing shows because it might be your only chance.
Do you have a motto or recipe foir putting on a good show?
Well, it used to be Rockstar and Skittles but myself and Liam got really sick before the show because of it once and we quit doing that. Now, for me personally, I try to be as insane as possible before any show and listen to the dumbest music that I can find. It seems to get me in a mood that I can't get into without it.
What is your most memorable moment thus far as a band?
Right now it was going into a professional studio, thanks Supernova, and playing the songs that we wrote in my basement. It just felt so fulfilling and it was worth every penny of gas that we paid to get there.
What is the funniest/strangest story that you have had as a band?
When we went dinosaur hunting in South America, we found baby aliens, and Steven Spielberg made a movie about it. They called it ET 3D...but it's really hard to find and I wouldn't bother trying.
If you had your way, where would you be in 2 years?
Touring on a bus signed Fat Wreck or Epitaph. If I could have my way, I would be rich before I would ever have to work.
In closing, is there anything else that makes your band unique that new listeners should know?
There's an upsetting amount of death metal bands in town, not that they are evil or anything, but I wish there were more rock bands. I guess that's what separates us from other people, we aspire to be normal.
