My band has made it when...

Video Dead Terrorize the Bovine

The Video Dead aren’t one of those bands that people go and see; they are a band that you go and experience. Ben will spit beer in to the crowd, probably (hopefully) offend someone in that crowd, and said crowd will hang on his every word and mosh until their limbs fall off.

1:00am on a Wednesday is not a set time that I would normally advise bands to seek, however at the NXNE kick off Juicebox / UO booking agency party, it didn’t seem to matter. The enthusiastic plaid ridden crowd stuck around the whole night and only seemed to get stronger as the night grew older. Once The Video Dead hit the stage it became abundantly clear that we were in for something special.

The Video Dead aren’t one of those bands that people go and see, they are a band that you go and experience. Having known the guys in The Video Dead (members of Saint Alvia, Grade, and so many more amazing Burlington punk bands) for a few years now, I have come to expect certain things from their live show. Ben will spit beer in to the crowd, probably/hopefully offend someone in that crowd, and said crowd will hang on his every word and mosh until their limbs fall off.

I was not disappointed.

These guys bring blend a little hardcore with a lot heart. Throw in a Kid Dynamite cover and you have one of the best live shows this side of the 905.

They are everything your band should not be but it works so well. They DO NOT practice, they don’t tour, they’re lucky if they record an album every 5 years and yet somehow they manage to keep it together, win awards and gain new fans at every show.
