After winning the Supernova.comBreak Your Band $25,000 development package, young Ottawa hardcore rockers On the Shoulders of Giants were pretty floored. “We’re all in a state of disbelief right now,” was about all the group could say, as they claimed a massive development package geared towards helping them hit the next level in their music.
From joining the Supernova series in December and killing the Ottawa finals, On the Shoulders of Giants went on to the judging process, only to be selected as the top band and winners of the MASSIVE grand prize: $25,000 worth of industry services, advice, expertise and opportunities to help 'Break the Band'!
It was an opportunity that fell in to their hands just as the band was coming together. “When we we're just starting out after getting our bass player Mikey, guitarist Nik and I heard about it from some friends who are in other local bands,” explained Dylan, the band’s other guitarist. With 6 members and a lot of talent, On the Shoulders of Giants rose through the Supernova series ranks very quickly, gathering tons of new fans along the way.

“We would describe our sound as a blend of melodic vocals, hardcore guitar riffs, smashing drums, ear piercing screams and groovy bass lines.”
On the Shoulders of Giants recently traveled to Supernova’s head offices in Toronto, to meet with a panel of industry insiders to begin the development process. This included legendary talent coaches like Noah Finklestein, Joel Baskin, Zayna Mosam and others. While learning some of the tricks and tribulations of the industry, the band was also set up at Epik Productions for a full studio session and consultation.
One of the first things to come out of the band’s development was this new track, recorded/mastered at Epik, called ‘Line Up to be Broken’ – a powerful entry on to the scene, that is true to the band’s musical style and form. Take a listen!
