My Friend Grim is a 5-man progressive metal and deathcore band from Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. Combining lightning fast percussion, precision power guitars and a harmonic heavy vocal style, the band has brought a force of original metalcore raining down on the local scene. Known for their massive popularity with fans, My Friend Grim offers an unparalleled in-your-face party every time they hit the stage.
In the past year, My Friend Grim repeatedly brought their unique brand of mayhem to the Supernova stage. They hit the Bus Stop Theatre in July and returned for HYSTERIA this Fall; easily winning the fan-voted Wildcard. My Friend Grim also stepped up this December for the Road to CMW and has had a buzz around their music ever since.
As far as a metalcore band goes, these guys have done a great job stay original and making each track count in its own unique way. We sat down to ask the band a little bit about their music and what makes their live show so awesome.
So guys, can you introduce the members of My Friend Grim?
Our lead vocalist is Zach Boutilier. Zach writes a lot of the lyrics and concepts and fits them into the songs. Our second vocalist and guitar player is Matt Goulden. Matt writes some of the lyrics, riffs, song structures, ideas, and concepts.
Our other guitarist is Adam Langille. Adam writes riffs, song structures, song ideas and concepts. Our bassist is Justin McManus. Justin likes to party and slide. Our Drummer is Ryan Kirby. He is a new member of the band.
Cool, and how did you guys come together to form a band?
It started with Adam and another guitar player and vocalist, and they found Justin and the previous drummer at their Jr. high school. After the first vocalist/ guitar player left they met Zach at a party. Zach later found Matt from youTube.
