There’s A Fighter in Me is an alternative, indie pop band from Houston, Texas that offers an upbeat energy and original sound. With songs featuring unique percussion and a host of different instruments, this young duo has a clean, polished style that really resonates with their local fans.
Supported by a drummer and a handful of very diverse original tunes, There’s A Fighter in Me played Supernova’s Band Wars this past December to a party-hungry audience. The band’s well-groomed performance and passionate set was a huge hit, and the band easily won the Wildcard prize as voted by fans.
Since then, this young band has continued to work hard at earning new fans and developing their own indie style. We grabbed an interview with the members a little while back in the hopes of understanding just what makes these artists tick.

Thanks guys. So what got you where you stand as a band today?
Kyle and Nick met through a mutual friend and began to play music. We got our name through Nick’s brother-in-law’s old band. We got to where we are today by our dedication and love for music.
Can you describe your sound?
Our band has an alternative/pop sound.
Is there any Artist who you’d consider a ‘mentor’?
Our mentors would be Modest Mouse, All Time Low and Set It Off.
What is the most rewarding thing about being in a band?
Performing and doing what we are passionate about.
What is the biggest challenge facing ‘new’ artists, in your opinion?
Finding shows and writing songs.
So how did you first find Supernova?
A Supernova promoter contacted us through our Facebook page. They are the most professional company we have worked with.
Where is your favorite place to practice or play?
Our favorite place to practice would be at Jack’s house and our favorite place to play would be Fuel Cyber Café.
What would be your band’s rulesfor putting on a good show?
Getting the crowd involved and making sure they have a good time.
Do you believe there such a thing as ‘bad’ music?
We don’t like to say there is “bad” music because there are different types of music and everyone has their own opinion.
Is there anything else that new listeners should know?
We are very diverse in our work and our new album will have different styles of music involved.
