Please introduce us to Aim for Theo:
Mason Cash – Lead Vocals, guitar, keyboard and wearing sunglasses at nights
Brendan Lee - Guitar
Brad “B-Rad” Russell – Slappin’ da Bass
Kyle Marchand - Drums
What brought you guys together as a band?
Brendan and Mason had a few drinks at a staff party and decided to rekindle our high school romance – musically speaking that is! We approached Brad (another co-worker and accomplished guitarist) and asked if he’d play bass. After a couple months, we put an ad on the internet and found Kyle.
How long have you been playing together with the current lineup?
We’ve been together for about a year and a half.
If I was to put you on the spot and ask you to define your genre, what would you call it?
We’ve been described as rock, alternative, and metal so we have decided to call ourselves a “Malt Rock” band. This is a bonus, as our music goes very well with a premium cold beer!
Do you have any major artistic influences?
We all differ quite a bit in taste which actually defines our sound.
Mason – Progressive rock and most anything out of the 80s (Rush) .
Brendan- Metal, punk, and some indie rock (Avenged Sevenfold) .
Brad – Rock, metal, jazz, funk (Red Hot Chili Peppers) .
Kyle – Modern Rock (Our Lady Peace)
What is the most rewarding thing about being in a band?
The most rewarding this is playing live, song writing and recording
What is the hardest part about being in a band?
How did you come across Supernova.com and what would you tell other artists about Supernova?
We found out about Supernova through another band. It’s great exposure and a lot of fun.
Do you have a motto or tradition for putting on a good show?
Mason likes to stay hydrated and have a good run before the show.
Kyle likes to relax with a cigarette
Brendan and Brad have a small beer drinking competition
What is your most memorable moment thus far as a band?
Being featured on ROCK 105.3 FM and Shaw TV in Medicine Hat.
What is the funniest story/strangest experience that you have had as a band?
Mason (the responsible one) slept in and made everyone an hour late for recording the EP. There was also the time someone decided to start stripping when we debuted our dubstep-metal song
Here's a live video from November 10th at the New Black
If you had your way, where would you be in 2 years?
It’d be nice to be playing more shows, and have a full length album with an indie or a major label. Touring as an opening band for a big act would be amazing! Although, we would settle for not losing money, good thing we all have day jobs!
In closing, is there anything else that makes your band unique that new listeners should know?
Theo was a cocky high school kid that 3 of us worked with that became the victim of a shop snowball war. Hence the name and our mascot: the rooster!
