Theory Awaiting and Victory Astray... no wait....

Hello,

Ali is here to edumacate everyone on this weeks feed!  I will be reviewing two bands the first will be The Top Band on Supernova’s Chart Awaiting Victory as well as Theory : Astray.  Both are Progressive Metal Acts from the Barrie region.

i) Awaiting Victory
  1. Originality 3 / 5
The band has a great progressive industrial metal sound.  Looks like these boys were highly influenced by albums like “10,000 Days” and “White Pony”.  It’s hard for me to give more then 3points, as not too much information was left in their profile.

  2. Song Writing 0 / 5
Sorry boys, but your Supernova and Myspace pages only have one song posted, which has no lyrics.  Which lacks huge b/c the band consists of three lyricists.

  3. Image (how band presents / markets itself) 4 / 5
The band has a fairly eye pleasing shirt for sale at their shows, they are also promoting there show @ The Kathedral on December 19 and are also keeping up past show posters on their Myspace to show the bands track record.

  4. Total Rating 7 / 15
There are several minor errors that show in-consistency (ie. Supernova page says “5-piece band” Myspace page says “6-piece band”), also more songs need to be added to the music player.  The Myspace music player HAS to be added, a music player on an artists Myspace account is a MUST, otherwise to the general public you guys have no music to offer.  It’s hard to go fishing without bait, and it’s hard to bring fans to a show without music.  I would have given a higher mark out of 15, but it’s hard to gain any insight to how the band sounds like without hearing lyrical content and the projection of the lead singer’s voice.  Does the band have dual signers?  A voice like Maynard or Lemmy?
Next Steps
Add more songs to your music player; add more info to your profile.  Remember these sites are the only thing your fans are seeing of you guys when you aren’t rocking it.

Comments
You guys look like you have a great fanbase.  I’ve read some comments, and you’re getting random strangers feeling your sound… keep doing your thing, b/c more people will be saying comments like that.  You guys should request to play a show with the next band that I’ll be reviewing.  They are fellow Barrie natives, and dominate the metal game wherever they play!

ii) Theory : Astray.
  1. Originality 4 / 5
The band is composed of a lead singer (Dan) whom also wails out on the drums, with an extraordinary drummer (Alex) already placed in the back, a groove metal bassist (Ted) and two badass guitarists (Jamie & Ryan).  Adding the element of the second drums really boosts up this Progressive Metal, and takes them out of the norm.  The only reason why the band gets a 4, instead of a 5, is because the bands charismatic Crew leader “J-Ballz” isn’t present at all of the shows!

  2. Song Writing 5 / 5
When people say that metal is just noise… they can do two things… i) lick my balls… ii) check out the lyrics to this band.  The lyricist (Dan) speaks very intelligently regarding the world and the shape that this society is currently in.  I urge people to analyze the song “God, Greed, Guns”.

  3. Image (how band presents / markets itself) 5 / 5
The band is doing a great job.  They have a Myspace page that is about to get pimped out and a Supernova page that gives the bands history as well as an interview of the band.  The band will be recording there new album next week and it will be available come the New Years.

  4. Total Rating 14 / 15
The band has won constant Battle of the Bands, as well as the Ontario Band Run, that had a competition of over 300 bands to fight for number one spot.  They also rocked The Dimebag Tribute Show this past Friday at The FunHaus, playing a Pantera instrumental lasting over 10 minutes!  The band is simply one of the elite in Supernova game.
Next Steps
The band is on the verge of releasing their first album.  My advice is to heavily promote it at Barrie @ The Foundation and ask local record stores to independently sell the record.  When you guys are ready to destroy Toronto, give me a call!

Comments
My only piece of advice is to add a link to your Myspace page on your Supernova profile.  For those of you who don’t know it, check out: Theory : Astray (more songs are listed).  Keep it loud |m|
