Keep your eyes and ears open for these local bands (Toronto/GTA)
A New Year means an assortment of fresh new bands to look out for! Here are a handful of local Ontario bands to keep on your radar:
Rides Again
Ontario’s next big thing, Rides Again, has just released its second single, “Infected,” which debuted at #29 on 102.1 The Edge Thursday 30 last week. The band has bumped up to #27! Show your support and vote!
Warning: You will find the infectious and intense chorus of this aptly titled song on constant repeat in your head. You can satisfy your Rides Again craving by purchasing their debut album, Into Existence, released October 2nd (Put It On Records).
The band headlined Supernova’s Indie Soundclash Finals at The Docks (February 2006, with The Fullblast and Shortline Hero) and Battle of the Bands® at the Opera House (April, 2006). Check out Supernova.com's recent interview with Nathan, Chad and Mike!
Rides Again will be playing The Edge Next Big Thing (in concert with Redpipe.ca) at Black Betty in Toronto on January 12th, 2008 (19+, win-to-get-in). Check edge.ca for more info.
One Second 2 Late
A Supernova favourite, One Second 2 Late, is on the path to success. A dozen or so shows with Supernova (dating back to 2002) and a couple of line-up changes later, this punk-rock quintet from Newcastle find themselves gearing up for the release of their debut full-length (Red Ink Music) due out early this year! The producers? Greig Nori (Sum 41) and Ian D’Sa (of Billy Talent). Not bad.
Miss the band’s New Years celebration with illScarlett and Down with Webster? Catch them at one of these upcoming events:
January 4th – The Groove Lounge, Oshawa
January 11th – The Bohemian, Belleville
January 18th – Bar St-Laurent 2, Montreal
January 21st – Zaphods, Ottawa
February 2nd – Kool Haus with HEDLEY, Toronto
The Scenario
Still riding the wave off their debut EP, London rockers The Scenario are ready for a new year of hot shows, starting with January 17th at the Rivoli (334 Queen Street West) in Toronto! Click here for details.
The Scenario caught the attention of 769MPH in 2006 after headlining a few Supernova shows with Social Code. The band subsequently signed a management deal and headed into the studio to record their five-song EP, produced by Brian Moncarz (The Junction). The EP can be purchased online at CD Baby or at your local The Scenario show!

Middle Management
You won’t find your typical hip-hop outfit in Middle Management. This Toronto duo brings to the table songs about office life. Yes, you read right – it’s all about the routine 9-5 work day many can relate so well to. How’s that for different? Middle Management proves that you can make something out of anything if you think outside the box for just a second.
Middle Management has participated in two Supernova events to date – look out for more in 2008!
