Idol of Exile are this week's featured indie band. These Oshawa metalheads took time out from making music to answer some of our questions. Ch-ch-check it out.

1.    Introduce your members and how each person fits into the band!
The members in our band consist of 5 music driven teenagers!
On Lead Vocals you got Alex Leech-He fits into the band because we wanted a vocalist that could hit all the notes and sing and he was a real good friend and he could do all the things we needed him to plus the chemistry was awesome from the get go!!!
On Lead Guitar we got Matt Szigeti-Heart and soul of the band. If you hear our band you will know what we mean! He holds the rhythm and shreds the lead!!
On Rhythm Guitar we present to you Jake Stauffer-The riffing machine of the band. It seems he’s always got something new going on with songs and riffs and all that jazz!
On Bass there’s Josh Zahrabelny-He's the hair of the band and also holds down the solid bass lines as well as the shredding finger techniques.
And then there’s Mark McCabe-On the drums he's the back bone of all of this madness. You’ll be quite amazed at what he can get out of such a tiny kit! But that’s Mark McCabe!!

2.    Can you give me a general history of the band? A general rundown?
We started off as 2 guitars, Jake Stauffer and Matt Szigeti and a bass player, Josh Zahrabelny. We desperately searched for a drummer and a vocalist. We only covered a few songs and a couple of our own. This lasted for about half a year until one magical day Jake Stauffer went skating and ended up meeting Mark McCabe at the skate park. They talked about music and Jake mentioned we were seeking a drummer. They organized a jam, tried it all out and immediately we all clicked! Jammed for about another month without a vocalist, and then got an offer from a buddy of ours Niel Austin. We tried him out and it sounded good at first but after about 2 months we realized he wasn’t what we were looking for and tried out our long time friend Alex Leech to be our Lead vocalist. He could hit all the notes we wanted and the chemistry was amazing!

3.    Describe your band’s sound.
As for our sound, we go for the melodic sound as well as the metal sound and we combined it! And we get Idol of Exile! Our genres consist of Hardcore and straight up Metal!

4.    What's been the most rewarding experience about being in the band?
Honestly the best feeling is just getting together and creating new tunes that flow beautifully and MAKE you mosh!

5.    Was there a moment, a show, a piece of good news, or anything, when you realized that the band was something that you wanted to pursue full time?
Right now we’re just going with the flow of things but one of the biggest things that gets us going is the people that enjoy our music. Sing with us, mosh to us, party with us and let us know where it’s at and also what’s bomb and what’s not!

6.    What do you want people to perceive your band as?
We just want everyone to know we can make good tunes that will get you going. But we’re also not in it to get retardedly huge. We just love making music and playing shows! It’s just a bonus of something we love doing!

7.    Favorite place to play?
Our favorite place we have played we all agree on and that is by far The Dungeon straight out of Oshawa, Ontario. It’s not only a venue; it’s like a chapter of our lives. There were many, many, MANY good times there, We played with sooo many cool people and amazing bands there. It’s hands down the best venue. R.I.P!

8.    Who would you love to tour with?
The band we would love to tour with the most we also all agree on and that is Killswitch Engage. Our Idols so to speak! That’s where we get about 70% of our influence!

9.    What are some bands you guys are currently listening to? Any new bands you can introduce us to?
Right now...Killswith Engage, Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying, As Blood Runs Black, Abhor the Tyrant, Suicide Silence, All That Remains, In Flames, Avenged Sevenfold, The Holly Springs Disaster, Dead and Divine, Underoath, Unearth, Born of Osiris, Winds of Plague, White Chapel! Plus MAAANY more!

10.    If you had to choose one album that you had to listen to on repeat for the rest of your life, which album would you pick?
Matt Szigeti - Killswitch Engage Alive or Just Breathing
Alex Leech - Van Halen Greatest Hits
Jake Stauffer - Underoath Define the Great Line
Josh Zahrabelny - Killswitch Engage As Daylight Dies
