The Deadbeats are a young band that can rock some seriously awesome sounds. With blues, reggae, classic rock, punk and other influences, their music is catchy and classic. Fresh off the Shure Band on the Run stage, Jacob, Troy and Alex recently took the time to answer some questions for their fans on Supernova.com.

How does each member contribute to the sound of your band?

Jacob is our bass player and he is our main source of energy.
Alex is our guitar player and he keeps it real.
Troy is our drummer and he cracks the jokes like he cracks a bottle!

How did The Deadbeats come to be?

It all started in a laboratory in Smallville. A professor was trying to make the perfect little boys. He added all the things that he needed: Sugar, spice and everything nice. But something terrible went askew. He accidentally added a can of pure kickass and created the greatest band anyone has ever seen. That’s pretty much making a long story short.

If that's how you describe your band's history,
how do you describe your sound?


LOUD. We try to make a sound suitable to all likings. We have touched upon: Blues, classic rock, punk, reggae and even metal, but we stay true to pure rock and roll.

What's been the most rewarding experience about being in the band?

Groupies. Free shit, like guns, crack and Yu-Gi-Oh cards… Yeah that’s right, we keep it real...

Where's your favorite place to play?

We all like to play at the Sound Academy because it is so big... That’s what she said.

What are the hottest bands on your radar? Any new bands you've discovered?

We are currently listening to some of the most kickass bands we've ever heard - next to us of course. We listen to Rise Against, Billy Talent, The Beatles, The Hives, Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, Brazilian Girls, Steel Panther, Sarah Harmer and Rage Against the Machine. We have recently come across one of the greatest bands in Toronto called King - CHECK THEM OUT!

If you had to listen one album on repeat for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Alex: The Sufferer and the Witness (Rise Against)
Jacob: Thriller (Michael Jackson)
Troy: Appeal to Reason (Rise Against)



Anything else you want listeners to know about your band?

We are heavy alcoholics, we do hard drugs. We’ve tried to quit, but figured out crack is more fun. We REFUSE to pay child support, we don’t give up our seats on the bus to ANYONE! We’ve all been to jail… don’t drop the soap, we’re serious…. Not really. Now let’s be serious.

We’re awesome, straight up. Some would even say the BEST band they’ve ever heard (Thanks, Mom!)
