Fat Smith is a 4 piece rockfit from Hamilton, with a knack for "shoving grooves into the mouths and down the throats of fans" - it's no wonder this power rock indie act is gaining momentum!
The band has played two Supernova.com entry level battles including a 2nd place finish in our
High School Battle of the Bands. After also winning an
online Wildcard vote from fans,
Fat Smith ran with it all the way to the
Rogers Spring Music Festival stage - again winning over the crowd with their "gutsy, unweilding rock."
By popular demand,
Supernova.com sat down to interview the foursome and talk about their unfolding indie rock story.
So who is Fat Smith; how does each individual fit into the band?
Sam on vocals,
Gykes on guits,
KJ on the low end,
Zeno on the beats... not
Phill.
Haha ok... how did you come together and what got you where you stand as a band today?
Gykes found Sam, Sam found KJ then Phill, Phill found
Judas Priest covers… and Zeno was found on eBay - his ass was cheap.
How would you describe your band’s sound?
Like getting hit in the face by a truck
Well! Besides producing face smashing music, what’s most rewarding about being in a band?

Hearing the fans cheer you on.
Was there any particular moment that made you want to pursue music full time?
It was a girl… Mom wanted to cash out… Dad was inspiring... it’s still for the girls.
How do you want people to perceive your band?
As a force to be reckoned with!
Who would you most like to tour with?
Foo’s,
Deftones,
Slash,
KISS.
What indie bands are you currently listening to that might get big?
This band…uh…
Fat Smith I think, they are really good.
If you had to listen to one album on repeat for the rest of your life, what album would it be?
Celine Dion,
My Heart Will Go On remixes, of course.
What would you tell other artists about Supernova.com?
They work hard to get bands exposed. Oh, and they give free stuff if you’re good!
Anything else that makes your band unique that new listeners should know?
Our singer farts on stage, just watch for the drummer’s face… but really, we do it for the music and we appreciate our fans who share our love.
