My band has made it when...

Supernova.com At SXSW 2010

As the most active social network in discovering bands and promoting new music talent, Supernova.com has come up with some KILLER ideas for the SXSW 2010 Conference.

The new music community has six Interactive and Music panels that have been accepted for consideration by the judges and – more importantly – the entire internet community! SXSW is a community-driven event, and panel voting accounts for about 30% of programming selection.

Therefore, Supernova.com is calling on all those who support the panel ideas below to vote and help bring them to SXSW 2010:

Online Community Saved the Radio Star: Some argue that Radio is a dying commercial medium, but Supernova.com and Corus have demonstrated that community is the key to revitalizing radio.

Music Discovery Redux – Controlled Chaos: SXSW 2009 started a huge argument about whether music discovery 2.0 was simply creating chaos; humans vs. algorithms faced off, with no clear winner. Supernova.com now combines peer referral and artist positioning, presenting a functional model for community-based rating, recommendation, and exploration.

Band 3.0 - Do 10,000 Friends Impress an A&R Agent?: Web 3.0 can work to a band’s advantage, but there’s often a disconnect with the ‘real’ music industry. Supernova.com will demonstrate how they combine web 3.0 with traditional music marketing, gaining recognition for new artists ready to explode on the live scene.

Community Saved the Radio Star: Radio is a dying medium, being replaced by inexpensive, accessible and engaging music mediums like podcasting, streaming, and referral engines. However there is a way to tap into online distribution while supporting radio; Community can save the Radio Star.

F**k Social Networks! I Just Wanna Play Music!: The buzz around web 3.0 is shifting focus away from what really matters in music. Talented artists are also growing tired of pimping their wares in <140 characters. Supernova.com is helping bands to leverage online community to get their music on to the live concert stage.

The Indie Orgasm: When Bands Explode in 3.0: For bands with no industry connections, social networking can add up to a big ZERO. Supernova.com will demonstrate how they are combining web 3.0 with traditional music marketing, allowing talented indie artists to explode on the live scene.

At SXSW 2009, Supernova.com co-presented several panels, including a core discussion ‘Music 2.0 = Music Discovery Chaos?” which is the lead in to this year’s Music Discovery Redux – Controlled Chaos. With over 17 years in the concert production and music industry, as well as one of the premier band promotion and music discovery community’s on the web, Supernova.com hopes to bring their knowledge, experience, and industry contacts along to SXSW 2010.
